Detroit Stock City Privacy Policy

Last Modified: March 20, 2017

This privacy policy discloses the privacy practices of Opportunity Detroit LLC (“Opportunity Detroit,” “we,” or “our”) for the website located at DetroitStockCity.com and the related services (collectively, the “Service”).

What Information We Collect

The types of information that we collect fall under two general categories: personally identifiable information (“PII”) and non-personally identifiable information (“non-PII”). PII consists of any information which can be used to specifically identify you as an individual, whereas non-PII consists of aggregate information or any information that does not reveal your identity. The following sections describe how your PII and non-PII are collected by us, and how we use such information.

How We Collect and Use Information

We automatically collect information created by your visits to our website. This information may include, among other things, the browser you are using, the IP address you come from, the model of your computer or mobile device, the operating system version, IP address and protocol used by your computer or mobile device, and usage and browsing habits. We use this information to provide and improve our Services, to diagnose and resolve problems, to analyze trends, to monitor aggregate usage, and to gather broad (aggregate) demographic information.

Service Analytics

We may use internal and third-party analytics and tracking tools (“Analytics Provider”) to help us analyze how users access and use the Service. We may change the Analytics Provider that we use from time to time. The information generated by your device about your use of the Service will be transmitted to and stored by the Analytics Provider on servers in the United States. The Analytics Provider will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the Service, compiling reports on mobile activity for our use and providing other services relating to Service activity. The Analytics Provider may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on the Analytics Provider’s behalf. By using the Service, you consent to the processing of data about you by the Analytics Provider in the manner and for the purposes set out above.

Information About You

When you submit content to the Services (“Content”), we collect a variety of information about you to complete your online profile. Except as otherwise stated in this Privacy Policy, we do not share your PII with other users of the Service or with third parties.  If you post Content to the Services, then we allow you to submit information such as your name, email address and website.

We require an email address from you when you register for the Service. We use your email both for transactional purposes (e.g., account updates) and for promotional purposes (e.g., newsletters, new product offerings, event notifications, special third-party offers). Email messages we send you may contain code that enables our database to track your usage of the emails, including whether the email was opened and what links (if any) were clicked. If you would rather not receive promotional emails from us, please see the section below labeled “Choice/Opt-Out”. We reserve the right to send you certain communications, such as service announcements and administrative messages, without offering you the opportunity to opt out of receiving them. We fully comply with the requirements of the U.S. CAN-SPAM Act. Demographic Data

Demographic data is also collected by the Service. We use this data to tailor your experience, showing you content that we think you might be interested in, and displaying the content according to your preferences. Some of this information may be shared with advertisers and other third parties on a non-personally identifiable basis. Please refer to the section below titled “Disclosure to Trusted Third Parties by Us” for further information.

Online Survey Data

We may periodically conduct voluntary member surveys. We encourage our users to participate in such surveys because they provide us with important information regarding the improvement of the Service. You may also volunteer for certain surveys that we may offer to our users, and any additional rules regarding the conduct of such surveys will be disclosed to you prior to your participation.

User Communication

From time to time we may add features that allow users to communicate with one another.  If a communication method is public (e.g., a forum), then any information that is disclosed in these areas could be considered public information depending upon how your account settings are structured. If the communication method is private (e.g., personal messaging), then you acknowledge that our system administrators may have access to those communications, and we may access them as required by law enforcement or to determine your compliance with the terms and conditions of the Services.

Disclosure of Your Information to Third Parties

You acknowledge and agree that we may disclose information you provide if:

  • we believe in good faith that we are authorized or required to do so by law, or
you give us your consent to do so, including if we notify you that the information you provide will be shared in a particular manner and you provide such information; or
  • we believe that disclosure is reasonably necessary or appropriate to (1) comply with the law, requests or orders from law enforcement, or any legal process (whether or not such disclosure is required by applicable law); (2) protect or defend the rights or property of the Service or a third party; or (3) protect someone’s health or safety.

Disclosure to Trusted Third Parties By Us

Opportunity Detroit takes privacy very seriously. We know that you do not want marketing from third parties just because you join our Service, so we do not turn over your personally identifiable information to third party marketers without your express consent; provided, however, that from time to time we may elect to use third-parties to provide certain services and offerings associated with the Opportunity Detroit Services (such as email newsletters, promotional offerings, surveys, metrics analysis, etc.), and may share your personal information with those third parties for the limited purpose of obtaining their services.

In the future, we may create features that present offers for goods and services we think you’d like. If you decide to participate with an offer, you may be presented with an opportunity to share information with the merchant. If you accept the offer, then we’ll send the information you requested to share with the merchant. We won’t transmit that information to the merchant until you explicitly ask us to do so. At that point, the data we deliver to the merchant will be governed by the merchant’s privacy policy, not ours.

We may share your PII, sometimes in conjunction with your non-PII, with service providers that may be associated with us to perform functions on our behalf. For example, outsourced customer support agents or technology infrastructure providers may need access to your information to perform services for you. Your information will be treated as private and confidential by such service providers and not used for any other purpose than we authorize.

As we develop our business, we may buy or sell assets and, depending on the transaction, your PII may be one of the transferred assets. In the event that we are acquired by another company, your PII may be part of the assets transferred to the acquiring party. If this occurs, you will be notified if there are any material changes to the way your PII is collected or used.
